- Latest investment in fourth compounding line more than doubles PLASgran’s plastic compounding capacity
- Around £1.7m invested in the EREMA installation as part of PLASgran’s growth plans
- New system to produce enhanced quality materials from a wider range of input streams, while reducing environmental impact
- Additional capabilities now enable PLASgran to offer new mineral-filled materials
PLASgran has invested in a new EREMA compounding system, which will more than double our plastic compounding capacity. This makes it our fourth compounding line, and the latest in our string of investments in best-in-class recycling machinery.
The INTAREMA® 2018 TVEplus® system sets new benchmarks in the recycling of materials that are normally difficult to process, such as very moist materials and heavily printed films. This allows us to handle both flexible and rigid polymer streams, opening up a much wider range of input streams.
Moreover, PLASgran will be able to produce more enhanced quality plastic compounds than ever before, due to the system’s state-of-the-art technology that enables filtration, homogenisation and degassing at the highest level of performance. We can now filter to far finer levels than with standard compounding lines, down to less than 100µm, with absolutely no loss in output.
With our new capabilities come new product offerings, including mineral-filled materials. PLASgran will soon be offering a brand new, off-the-shelf 20% Talc Filled Grade.
The INTAREMA® machine features an innovative pre-conditioning unit that reduces energy consumption by up to 12%, which in turn results in lower production costs and carbon emissions.
This significant investment in the latest technology is in line with PLASgran’s long-term plans for business growth, which support our commitment to manufacturing excellence. We have already improved our technical capabilities by expanding our laboratory facilities and increasing our technical headcount.
“We are driving to be a leader in the supply of recycled plastic materials across a wide range of polymers and compound specifications,” said Mark Roberts, Managing Director of PLASgran.
“We are focused on building a sustainable business for the future,” he continued, “and our shareholders see the continued investment in the latest technologies as the way to deliver this.”
The new compounding line complements PLASgran’s existing capabilities: state-of-the-art separation technologies, including electrostatic separation, optical sorting and metal extraction; as well as high specification cleaning, de-dusting and washing facilities to produce quality regrind blends suitable for direct conversion processes.
Installation of the new system was completed during March at our purpose-built facility in Cambridgeshire. Since the Easter weekend, we have started production runs for existing clients.
Please stay tuned to the PLASgran website for further developments to improve our capabilities.
